So today’s topic, major depressive disorder. I’ll often have patients come in complaining of sadness, emptiness, and hopelessness.
They seem to have a loss of interest or pleasure in activities they once used to enjoy.
They have changes in their appetite, changes in their weight, sleep disturbances, they either sleep too much or they can’t fall asleep. They’re fatigued. They have a lack of energy.
They have a decrease in their motivation. Oftentimes they feel worthless, guilty, and have excessive blame.
They have problems concentrating or making decisions or remembering things.
And oftentimes, unfortunately, they have thoughts of why bother living. You know, there are over 264 million people of all ages that suffer from depression globally.
But the good news is, there’s treatment out there. With the proper medications, therapy, and lifestyle changes, we can get you feeling better.
